How does the PawSentry tracker work, and how is it different from an AirTag?
The PawSentry 5 Pro has its own mobile connection (LTE-M and NB-IoT) and its own GPS receiver, so it reports your pet's position and health to the app on its own, wherever they are. No phone needs to be nearby.
An AirTag or any Bluetooth tag only works within about 30 metres of a phone that belongs to the Find My network. In a field, a forest or a quiet street there is no such phone, so a lost pet simply disappears from the map. That is why we do not recommend Bluetooth tags for pets.
How accurate is the location, and does it work indoors?
Outdoors the tracker is typically accurate to a few metres. It uses an active ceramic antenna: a ceramic patch antenna with its own built-in amplifier, which picks up weak satellite signals far better than the small printed antennas in most trackers. That means faster fixes and better accuracy under trees, between buildings and in bad weather.
When satellites are blocked, indoors, in a tunnel or under a dense canopy, the tracker switches to dead reckoning: its motion sensors count your pet's steps and direction from the last known position and keep the track going. The next satellite fix corrects the track, so you never lose the trail.
How often is the location updated?
In standard mode the tracker reports regularly and stays quiet in between to save battery. When your pet is at home the tracker recognises your home Wi-Fi and rests, which is where most of the 30-day battery life comes from.
The moment you need it, tap Live Tracking in the app and the position updates every few seconds, with the route drawn on the map. Zone alerts and impact alerts are sent immediately, whatever mode the tracker is in.
Will I be notified if my pet leaves a safe zone?
Yes. Draw a safe zone (your garden, the park, grandma's house) or a danger zone (a busy road) in the app. The instant your pet crosses the boundary you get a push notification with the position, and you can start Live Tracking with one tap.
You can set up several zones, and each family member with access gets the alerts too.
How does the impact sensor work, and can it detect a car accident?
Yes. The PawSentry 5 Pro has a dual-range impact sensor: a fine accelerometer for everyday movement and a high-range one that measures shocks up to 320 G, far beyond what a jump, a tumble or rough play produces. When a shock is that strong, the tracker records the exact force, direction and moment and sends it straight away.
Our server then rates the event on a severity scale using the force, what your pet was doing just before, and whether it is moving again afterwards, so play and jumping off the sofa are not flagged. A serious impact, such as a car strike, a hard fall or a heavy collision, triggers an instant alert on your phone with your pet's location, so you can get there or call the vet without losing a minute.
The sensor works everywhere the tracker has coverage and needs no setup.
What does the tracker measure, and how?
The built-in sensors follow your pet around the clock. The app shows:
1. Steps, distance, walks and active minutes
2. Calories burned, estimated from activity and your pet's profile
3. Resting heart rate and breathing rate, measured while your pet rests
4. Sleep: how long and how well
5. Vocal cues: barking, meowing, whining, and unusual patterns that can signal stress or discomfort
6. Scratching episodes
7. Impacts and hard falls

How long does the battery last, and how do I charge it?
Up to 30 days on a single charge in standard mode. Battery life depends on use: Live Tracking, the LED light, the speaker and long stretches away from home all use more power, while a pet that spends most of the day at home gets the longest life.
Charging is with the supplied USB-C cable from any phone charger. The app shows the battery level and warns you before it runs low.
Is the tracker waterproof?
Yes, the PawSentry 5 Pro is rated IP67: dust-tight and protected against immersion in up to one metre of water for 30 minutes. Rain, mud, snow, puddles and a quick swim are no problem. It is not intended for prolonged diving or swimming at depth. Rinse it with fresh water after salt water.
Is the tracker safe for my pet?
Yes. The PawSentry 5 Pro is designed and built to European (CE) radio and product safety requirements. Its radio use is minimal by design: it talks to the network only briefly and periodically, uses Bluetooth Low Energy nearby, and rests in power-saving mode whenever frequent updates are not needed, so the exposure is a small fraction of a mobile phone's.
The housing has no sharp edges, is light, and is worn comfortably by dogs and cats for weeks at a time.
Which pets is it for, and how do I attach it?
The PawSentry 5 Pro is made for dogs and cats. It clips onto the collar or harness your pet already wears.
Orientation matters, and the tracker tells you how: the arrows moulded on its side must point up, towards the sky. That puts the ceramic satellite antenna at the top, with a clear view of the sky for the best GPS reception, and the speaker at the bottom, facing the ground, so the sound is played down into the ground and reflected back up to your pet and its surroundings.
Place it on the side of the neck and make sure it sits snugly against the neck: good contact is what makes the heart-rate and breathing readings accurate.
How do I set up the tracker?
1. Download the PawSentry app from the App Store or Google Play
2. Create an account and add your pet's profile
3. Turn on the tracker and follow the in-app steps to pair it
4. Choose your connectivity plan
5. Attach the tracker to the collar and set your home and safe zones

Do I need a subscription, and what does it cost?
Yes. The tracker has its own mobile connection, just like a phone, and the connectivity plan covers that data, the servers and the app. Plans start at EUR 4 per month on a 36-month plan and go up to EUR 10 on a monthly plan; see the pricing section for your currency.
You pick the plan in the app when you register the tracker, so nothing runs before your tracker is actually in use. Every plan includes every feature: no locked functions, no hidden fees.
Can I manage or cancel my subscription?
Yes. You manage, change or cancel your plan in the app under the tracker's settings, any time, without contacting anyone. If you get a new tracker, your subscription and your pet's profile move over with it.
What is PawSentry Care?
PawSentry Care is our replacement cover for the tracker. If it is lost, stolen or damaged, we replace it for free, and your subscription and your pet's profile move to the new tracker automatically. Care is available with 12-month plans or longer and can be added in the app.
What if I lose the tracker?
Use the app to find it:
1. Start Live Tracking or refresh the position for the latest location
2. Activate the sound or the LED light so you can hear and see it nearby
3. Use the locator, which points you towards the tracker
If the battery is drained or it cannot be recovered, remove the tracker in the app and transfer your subscription to a new one. With PawSentry Care the replacement is free, just contact support.

Before travelling, check that your destination is on the list. Our future satellite (NTN) tier will remove that limitation entirely.
Can I share my pet with my family, and can I have several trackers?
Yes to both. Invite family members or a dog walker from the app; they see the map, the health data and get the alerts on their own phones. One account can hold as many pets and trackers as you like, each with its own subscription, all on one screen.

Where is my data stored, and who can see it?
Your pet's location and health data is stored on our own servers in the EU (Finland) and processed under the GDPR. It is visible only to you and the people you invite. We never sell it or share it with advertisers. You can have your data deleted at any time by writing to us; see our privacy policy.
